Taxes & planning
Most tax surprises are visible months early — if something is watching. Wealth Navigator projects your full-year federal and state liability from the ledger, your forms, and your paystubs, then compares it to what's actually being withheld. The classic save: equity compensation (RSU vesting is commonly withheld at a flat rate well below a real marginal rate) — the app spots the gap in June and suggests the W-4 adjustment, instead of you discovering it in April.
What-if modeling lets you test a move before committing: selling a position, a Roth conversion, a job change, exercising options. Scenarios are computed side-by-side against your real situation — including interactions people miss, like AMT on ISO exercises or a capital gain pushing other income across thresholds.
At filing time, the work is already organized: realized gains reconcile against broker statements, and Form 8949 / TXF exports carry your records into your tax software or to your CPA — including basis corrections (such as ESPP) that brokers commonly report wrong.
Tax-year parameters are updated annually. Everything here is an estimate for planning — the point is to make the conversation with your CPA shorter and better informed, not to replace it.
